It's quite fun for a short while, thanks to the stylish steam-punk visuals and the well developed world you will explore, while the humor and sense of adventure is also well conveyed. Although this sounds quite intriguing on paper, it ultimately fails to live up to expectations. It plays out a little like a text adventure, but with some stylish visuals thrown in for good measure, so you can expect to meet various characters and read about the situations you find yourself in, before making your decision about what to do next. It's sort of like a modern version of The Oregon Trail, as you need to make decisions about what provisions to buy, your route, how you will travel and all sorts of other things. You play as his faithful servant, Passpartetout, and it's up to you to make the arrangements, choose the route and pretty much take care of everything. The story follows the original novel, in that Phileas Fogg finds himself in a race around the world, and must return to London in 80 days in order to win the bet. The idea of a spiffing adventure around the world, inspired by Jules Verne's classic hero is an undeniably appealing one, and while 80 Days seems like it's going to deliver the goods, it ultimately proves to be too repetitive to make it a must play.

![]() You can change the difficulty at any time either by creating a LAN game or by using the console. With T0 gear on elite the T1 bosses can easily take you 20 to 60 minutes to kill and then they might not even drop anything. It's just a matter of how much time you are willing to spend for one boss initially. Darknessfalls is still very hard even on casual difficulty. If you want to skip this step then you will probably have to drop in difficulty for T1. You probably need at least 8 angelic souls which equates to salvaging 400 legendary items and they usually only drop from bosses. However if you wish to continue with Darknessfalls on Elite then you have to soulcraft your T0 gear which takes a long time. Try farming Derinkuyu on elite difficulty first. ![]() Embersteps is probably the best for leveling and also the most engaging. Otherwise I'd suggest leveling on casual difficulty or even skipping leveling via console after you're finished with the story at around lvl 50. I would guess that Esther questioned her situation and wondered if God had forgotten her, but think what would have happened if she had given into those fears? Does the grass on the other side look greener?.Do you believe no matter what happens you serve a sovereign God?.Are you seeking wisdom from godly people?.Are God’s plans not matching up with yours?.Such an amazing story! But will you take a moment with me to think about your current situation? Maybe God had placed Esther as queen so that she could stand up to the king. In defense Mordecai shared with his niece probably the most popular verse from Esther, “Who knows, perhaps you have come to your royal position for such a time as this” (4:14). But believing this would mean certain death and Esther was adamantly against his advice. In chapter four, Mordecai encourages Esther to approach the King and beg for mercy and plead for the Jewish people. God Has Placed Us Where We are for a Reason God was arranging every single detail for His glory.ĥ. Was it happenstance that Esther was a Jew? Of course not. It wasn’t by mistake that Esther had “a lovely figure and was beautiful” (2:7). God was with Esther when she lost her parents and she was raised by her wise uncle. Yet God’s fingerprints are on every page. Interestingly, God’s name is never mentioned in Esther. Regardless of man’s plans, God has the final say because He is sovereign.Ĥ. Yet throughout the Old Testament, a promised Messiah was to come from Jewish lineage. Later in the story, Mordecai pleaded with Esther to set her fears aside and stand up for deliverance of the Jews.Įsther’s situation looked bleak as did the future of her people. ![]() Because he forbid her, Esther didn’t reveal her nationality (2:10). From the beginning Esther listened to her Uncle Mordecai’s wisdom. Esther 1:13 states that “it was customary for the king to consult experts in matter of law and justice.” The problem is that the advice that the king received from his “wise” men and his right-hand-man Haman led him to make very poor decisions – decisions deadly for the Jews. King Xerxes is the prime example of what happens when you don’t do this. In reading through Esther again I was struck with the importance of surrounding ourselves with wise, godly people. He reminds us in Isaiah 55:9 that His ways and thoughts are higher than our ways and thoughts. To top that off, Esther never dreamed of a situation where she would have to choose between her own life and standing up for the lives of her people, the Jews.īut none of this was a surprise to God. I have no doubt that Esther’s plans for her life didn’t include her parents’ early deaths, being taken to the live in the king’s palace, and being married to a prideful king. Proverbs 16:9 says, “The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” A couple of chapters later in 19:21, Proverbs reiterates, “Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.” ![]() But in skipping this short book, I feel I missed out on learning some amazing biblical truths points that I desire our children to learn as we study this book together.ġ. Maybe because it isn’t considered one of the “greats” alongside Noah, Moses, and Jonah. Maybe because some of the plot is for a mature audience. With my several-times-a-week as a child church attendance, you would have thought this name would have rung a bell, but for some reason my Sunday School classes didn’t include Esther in the Old Testament rotation. I was surprised to learn that Hadassah was actually a Biblical name – Esther’s birth name, to be exact. The birth announcement that I received in the mail stated the precious girl’s name was “Hadassah.” Flipping through my mental rolodex of names to search for a match, I came up empty. ![]() In scenario F, the narrator attempts to complicate things further by imagining John and Mary as spies and counterrevolutionaries, but concludes that the endings of all of the stories are all ultimately the same.Īt the end of “Happy Endings,” Atwood meditates on the nature of plot and story, arguing that plot is ultimately less interesting than other aspects of storytelling. In scenario D, Fred and Madge brave a tidal wave, while in scenario E, Fred and Madge deal with illnesses such as heart disease and cancer. At the conclusion of the story, Madge remarries to a man named Fred and everything continues as in A. When John walks in on Mary and James having sex, he kills them and commits suicide. The bubbles expand at room temperature or as the bread bakes in the heat of the oven, causing the dough to rise. When you bake the bread, the ethanol gradually evaporates, forming gas bubbles that assist the carbon dioxide in helping the bread to rise. When the yeast breaks the glucose down to release energy, it forms two molecules of carbon dioxide and two molecules of ethanol for every molecule of glucose.Īt room temperature, the ethanol is liquid. These bubbles cause the dough to rising and proof (dough volume increases). ![]() The carbon dioxide and ethanol bubbles get trapped in the dense bread dough. When yeast is added to the bread dough, it breaks down the simple sugars in the wheat flour and releases carbon dioxide and ethanol. The yeast typically used in baking, Saccharomyces cerevisiae also has a vital role in brewing beer. The yeast then breaks down the sugars in a process known as fermentation.įermentation is the same process used to ferment alcoholic drinks (ethyl alcohol is also known as ethanol and is the alcohol that people drink). Flour has enzymes that break the starches down into simple sugars after rehydrating the flour. If there isn’t glucose in the environment, yeast uses enzymes to convert other sugars and starches into glucose.įlour contains starch, composed of long chains of glucose and other sugars. energy, which the yeast uses to live off.Yeasts are tiny, single-celled fungi that break glucose down into the following components: Why Does Bread Dough Rise When Yeast Is Added The gas bubbles slowly move about in the dough, and that movement pushes the gluten proteins in the bread dough around so that they form a network without you having to knead the dough. The gluten network forms from tiny, invisible movements resulting from gas bubbles from the fermenting yeast. While the bread dough sits in the refrigerator for many hours, enzymes in the flour gradually break the gluten proteins down into smaller pieces that can more easily form a network. Yeast affects gluten development, particularly if you are using a no-knead bread recipe.Ī no-knead recipe calls for putting the dough in the fridge. Yeast also produces alcohol that evaporates as the bread bakes, which enhances the leavening action of yeast compared to alternatives such as baking powder and adds to the bread’s flavor. The bubbles of carbon dioxide gas released by the leavening agent create little pockets of gas throughout the dough, which form the structure of the bread when you bake it. Why Do Bakers Add Yeast To Bread Doughīakers add yeast to bread dough as a leavening agent to produce a soft, pillow-like texture in bread products such as loaf bread, cinnamon rolls, dinner rolls, and pizza dough.Ī leavening agent ensures that the bread will be full of small holes, making it light and fluffy instead of a hard, solid lump.Ī leavening agent is anything that will release carbon dioxide into the dough before you knead it. The gluten network helps to trap the bubbles of gas that give bread its fluffy texture and makes the dough rise. Yeast develops and strengthens the gluten network, which helps keep the whole structure of the bread together. ![]() Yeast affects the development of gluten in bread dough.
